Departments

• ME Engineering Design program focuses on developing advanced skills in engineering design and analysis. It combines core mechanical engineering principles with specialized topics in design, simulation, and innovation. This department emphasizes creating solutions for complex engineering problems through the application of design methodologies, computational tools, and modern technologies.

• The ME Engineering Design program, launched in 2011 with an initial intake of 18 students, focuses on advanced design and analysis in mechanical engineering. It boasts a highly qualified faculty, including numerous PhD holders, dedicated to fostering innovation and research. The program equips students with cutting-edge skills, preparing them for careers in industries like automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing.

• The ME Engineering Design program features state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Design Engineering Lab, Analysis & Simulation Lab, and Mechanical Vibrations Lab. These labs are equipped with advanced software and hardware tools, enabling students to engage in hands-on learning and practical applications of design methodologies, simulation techniques, and vibration analysis. They provide a platform for students to gain expertise in product development, structural analysis, and dynamic system behavior.

The Mechanical Engineering Department strives to be recognized nationally for outstanding education and research leading to well-qualified engineers, who are innovative, entrepreneurial and successful in fields of engineering.

Mission

M1 Imparting quality education to the students and enhancing their skills to make them globally competitive Mechanical Engineers.

M2 Maintaining vital, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to provide its students with opportunities to create, interpret, apply and disseminate knowledge.

M3 To develop linkages with research organizations and educational institutions in India for excellence in teaching, research and consultancy practices.

M4 To provide the students with academic environment of excellence, leadership, ethical guidelines and lifelong learning needed for a long productive career.

PEO's

The following Programme Educational Objectives are designed based on the department Mission:

PE01 To develop an aptitude to use fundamental engineering principles to conceptualize, create, model, test and evaluate designs within the context of local and global needs.

PE02 To understand and explore the behaviour of existing and new materials suitable for the design needs.

PE03 To develop innovative technologies and find solutions to contemporary issues in Engineering Design using modern engineering tools and methods.

PE04 To pursue advanced education, research and development and other creative/ innovative efforts in their professional career.

POs

PO1 Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering.

PO2 Graduates will demonstrate an ability to design a system, component or process as per needs and specifications.

PO3 Graduates will have the ability to use the computer aided design tools to design a component or system.

PO4 Graduate will demonstrate an ability to design and conduct experiments, analyse, interpret, and validate data in the area of design engineering.

PO5 Graduate will demonstrate skills to use modern engineering tools, software and equipment to analyse multidisciplinary problems.

PO6 Graduate will have the knowledge of material behaviour under various circumstances exist which can be utilize for the material selection process

PO7 Graduate will have the knowledge of mechanisms behaviour and its design by analytical method and using software tools.

PO8 Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of professional and ethical responsibilities in the field of mechanical design.

PO9 Graduate will communicate their technical knowledge.

PO10 Graduate will develop confidence for self-education and ability for life-long learning and research.

PSO1 Apply the concepts and practical knowledge for effective decision making in the analysis, design and development of computing systems.
