The Department of Civil Engineering of Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore was established in the year 2012 with the present intake of 30. The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members specialized in various areas of Civil Engineering. The vision of the department is to develop the technical skills and knowledge of Civil Engineers to improve the infrastructure and economic welfare of the society. The Mission of the department is to provide value-based education to meet the requirement of the society and to promote consultancy activities with the help of different organizations.

  • Accounting majors take a full year of accounting: Principles of Accounting I and II, during your the year.
  • As Juniors, you will enroll in interm. Accounting I and II, it will you a comprehensive understanding of accounting practice, thoery and financial report.
  • Senior year will give you a great opportunity to specialize in an area of interest by pairing Accounting Topics with electives of your choosing.
  • We will assist students in preparing for the Certified Public Accounting Exam through our self study programs.

Mission 2: To encourage suitable industry interaction through industrial visits, trainings, projects, internships and placement.

Mission 3: To carve a niche in the modern world by carrying out research works those are relevant to the society.

The following Programme Educational Objectives are designed based on the department Mission

PE01 To develop a program that will lay a strong foundation to pursue higher studies and to play a prominent role as an employee in engineering firms or nurturing their own firms.

PE02 To apply state of the art knowledge and skills in areas related to Civil engineering and provide sustainable solutions to persistent problems of society.

PE03 To imbibe ethics, pursue lifelong learning and continuously develop managerial skills to emerge as leaders who understand and assume the roles and responsibilities of professional service.

PE04 Perform investigation for solving Civil Engineering problems by conducting research using modern equipment and software tools.

PE05 Function in multi-disciplinary teams and advocate policies, systems, processes and equipments to support civil engineering

POs

PO1 Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to find the solution for complex Mechanical engineering problems

PO2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex mechanical engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences

PO3 Design and development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems or system components or processes related to Mechanical Engineering that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments in Mechanical Engineering, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and Information Technology tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering problems in Mechanical Engineering with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6 The engineer and society: Apply contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.

PO7 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of professional Production and Industrial Engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development

PO8 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9 Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams as well as in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO11 Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO12 Lifelong learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change

On successful completion of the Civil Engineering Degree programme, the Graduates shall exhibit the following:

PSO1 Knowledge of Civil Engineering Discipline Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Civil Engineering discipline, with an ability to evaluate, analyze and synthesize existing and new knowledge.

PSO2 Critical Analysis of Civil Engineering Problems and Innovation Critically analyze complex Civil Engineering problems, apply independent judgment for synthesizing information and make innovative advances in a theoretical, practical and policy context.

PSO3 Conceptualization and Evaluation of Engineering Solutions to Civil Engineering Issues Conceptualize and solve Civil Engineering problems, evaluate potential solutions and arrive at technically feasible, economically viable and environmentally sound solutions with due consideration of health, safety, and socio-cultural factors.
