The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year of 2001 and the Post Graduate course was approved in the year of 2012. The department of ECE is an approved Research Centre by Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. It got R&D approval since 2013. More than 10 Research Scholars are doing their research activities under the Department.The department has well qualified faculty members specialized in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department boasts of good infrastructural facilities and state of the art laboratories required for imparting high quality education to meet the present day needs of the society. The department is committed towards conduct of periodic self-development programmes and regular industry oriented training to enable the students to become not only employable to companies, but real assets of the nation.

On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, I would like to welcome you to the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at CIET. The Department of ECE strives to offer the best undergraduate education in Electronics and Communication Engineering, to achieve national and international prominence in selected areas of graduate study and research. The department has also made huge strides in order to foster partnerships with industry and contribute to technological and economical advances in the nation, and the world. Our undergraduate program provides our students with a solid background in mathematics, physical sciences, electronics and communication engineering.
A wide range of program options are available in Post-Graduation including, Communication Systems, Applied Electronics and VLSI Design. ECE is the home of the WIPRO Mission 10X Learning Centre and AGILENT RF SYSTEM DESIGN LAB. Our faculty members have also developed collaborative partnerships with industries, which include, ANCIT CONSULTING, TRICOM TECHNOLOGIES, CORPUS LABS, SMART DV TECHNOLOGIES INDIA PVT LTD, ASCENSO TELECOM SOLUTION PVT LTD, MARVEL TECHNOLOGIES, SENTHIL GROUP OF INDUSTRIES, I WAVE SYSTEMS, BANGALORE, SREEVATSA TRADING COMPANY etc.

AGILENT RF SYSTEM DESIGN LABORATORY: Radio frequency (RF) engineering is a subset of communication engineering that deals with devices that are designed to operate in the Radio Frequency spectrum. These devices operate within the range of about 3 KHz to 300 GHz. The Radio Frequency lab in the field of Radio Frequency Electronics and wireless communication. The department is committed to develop an AGILENT center of excellence in the field of Radio Frequency Electronics and the lab is developed to facilitate the goal. The facilities in the RF SYSTEM DESIGN LABORATORY include ADS Advanced Design Systems) from Agilent Technologies Inc., Antenna Sat Soft tools, Workstations and measurement tools such as AGILENT Vector Network Analyzer(0-4GHz) and Spectrum Analyzer. The lab concentrates on communication topics such as RF transceiver architectures, signal encoding and modulation techniques, spread spectrum and multiple access techniques, and wireless technology standards. Commonly used communication circuit blocks such as antennas, mixers, oscillators, LNA (low-noise amplifier), PA (power amplifier), and frequency synthesizers, micro strip couplers are developed in the lab. NOVELL LAB (NETWORK LAB): The booming growth and developments in communication technology around the globe necessitates the need for budding communication Engineers to have a thorough understanding of networking concepts and topologies. Network laboratory provides the platform for understanding the basics of networking concepts. This laboratory is equipped with 40 Pentium-4 systems loaded with networking simulator tools like NS2, OPNET and Local Area Network (LAN) trainer kit.
